About Bentley

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: White with Brown or Chocolate

Bentley is about 35 lbs, low rider.  He was dumped in a NY Kill shelter.  He is shy at first but warms up once he gets comfortable.  He needs someone that can give him patience and approach him slowly until he gets to know them.  He is good with other dogs and is okay with cats too.  He will need some time to adjust in a home as he does have some fear issues.

Bentley has some quirks and we have hired a trainer, so his adopter will need to follow and continue with his training.  He feel he should be in an adult only home based on his fear.

Bentley was rescued from Staten Island AC,  he did have some fear aggression issues when we took him in.  He is a corgi pit mix, and with his foster home he is wonderful.  We hired a trainer where he stayed for over a month.  He has learned commands and does not show fear aggression with us anymore, but he needs an experienced adopter who will continue to work with him, and when going into a new home he will need to overcome his fear again.   His trainer can work with the adopter, phone calls, zoom, whatever and will always help throughout his whole life.  We have a list of commands for Bentley that we want the new adopter to work with him so he does not forget what he has learned.  We do not want Bentley to fail.   In his foster home Bentley is housebroken, loving,  and good with other dogs but does need time to get to know the other dogs.  He is good with cats also.  Initially it takes him time to get to know bigger dogs as he may be a little fearful with them in the beginning.  But his foster home has 10 dogs big and small and he is good with all of them and the Cats too.   He is very good in a crate, and lots of his commands revolve around the crate.   He loves being walked and going out in the yard.  Bentley is up to date on shots, neutered and microchipped.  He loves snuggling with his person on the couch and is well behaved when left alone.  He deserved to be saved, and he deserves a home that will love and give him the time to overcome his fears.
